The Strata Mechanics Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences undertakes to ensure the accessibility of its website (http://www.imgpan.pl/) in accordance with the provisions of the Act of 4 April 2019 on the Digital Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies (Journal of Laws 2019, item 848), and with Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2018/1523 of 11 October 2018, establishing a model accessibility statement pursuant to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council, taking into account the requirements for public sector entities.

Compliance status

The website www.imgpan.pl is partially compliant with the provisions of the Act of 4 April 2019 on the Digital Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

  1. This statement was prepared on: 14 September 2020.
  2. Preparation method:
    The declaration was prepared based on a self-assessment carried out by the public entity.

Despite the efforts of the website administrators, some documents published on the website may not be accessible or compliant for several reasons:

  • they were published before the current accessibility law entered into force;
  • their structure does not allow modification of the content.

Some documents may also lack:

  • a text layer in scanned documents (due to publication before the accessibility law came into force);
  • alternative descriptions (for the same reason);
  • audio descriptions (for the same reason);
  • properly formatted text layers following editorial best practices (e.g., use of capital letters, colored fonts, insufficient contrast).

The website www.imgpan.pl supports standard keys and keyboard shortcuts, depending on the browser and operating system used.

By the end of 2021, the website will be fully adapted to legal accessibility requirements.
The declaration was prepared based on a self-assessment carried out by the public entity.

Appeal procedure

Everyone has the right to request digital accessibility of a website, mobile application, or any of their elements. One may also request access to information via an alternative means, such as having a digitally inaccessible document read aloud or a video described that lacks audio description.

A request must include:

  • the applicant’s contact details,
  • an indication of which website or application the request concerns,
  • the preferred contact method, and
  • if applicable, the preferred form of alternative access.

The public entity must respond promptly, no later than 7 days from receiving the request. If the request cannot be fulfilled within this period, the requester must be informed when it will be possible — no later than 2 months from the date of the request.

If ensuring digital accessibility is not possible, the public entity may propose an alternative access method.

If a public entity refuses to provide accessibility or alternative access, the requester may file a complaint regarding the digital accessibility of the website or application. After exhausting this procedure, a complaint may also be submitted to the Ombudsman (Rzecznik Praw Obywatelskich).
