Summary of The Mining Forum 2019

On June 27-28 2019, employees of the Strata Mechanics Research Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences participated in the 15th edition of the international The Mining Forum conference which took place in Estrel Hotel in Berlin. The Institute was honored to be one of the conference partners — as part of the Ground Control session, the 2nd Stanisław Knothe Scientific Conference was held, which the Institute organized in cooperation with DMT GmbH & Co. KG.
The session was opened by prof. dr hab. inż. Anton Sroka, who welcomed the guests and introduced prof. Stanisław Knothe, his figure and scientific achievements.
The following papers were delivered:

  1. Stefan Hager, RAG Aktiengesellschaft Prognosis of ground movements during mining and mine water rise after closure of coal mines,
  2. Mateusz Dudek, IMG PAN Numerical simulations of the rock mass behavior in the area of mines liquidated by flooding,
  3. Leszek Szojda, Politechnika Śląska Importance of expansion joints in brick buildings subjected to the convex curvature of mining subsiding areas,
  4. Paweł Jamróz, IMG PAN Integration of systems for monitoring changes in surface area deformation,
  5. Michael Hegemann, Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola Requirement Analysis for Subsidence Calculations in different Phases of the Mining Industry,
  6. Heinz-Jurgen Kateloe, RWTH Aachen University Applying Knothe’s Theory to the Evaluation of Dynamic Mining Subsidence in Range of an Underground Pipeline,
  7. Jerzy Krawczyk, IMG PAN Examples of modeling of methane propagation during an operation of a longwall shearer,
  8. Andreas Muterthies, EFTAS Fernerkundung Technologietransfer GmbH Satellite-borne monitoring measures in the mine life cycle,
  9. Daniel Schroder, DMT GmbH & Co. KG I2MON – Integrated monitoring for the detection of ground and surface displacements caused by coal mining,
  10. Jan Anderssohn, Airbus Defence and Space Tailings pond dam failure prediction by satelite-based surface movement monitoring.

One of the moderators of the session was dr hab. inż. Krzysztof Tajduś, prof. IMG PAN.

In two days, about 90 lectures were delivered to nearly 400 participants. Among the speakers were:

mgr inż. Mateusz Dudek

dr inż. Paweł Jamróz

dr hab. inż. Jerzy Krawczyk

The conference was also an opportunity to present the Institute’s scientific and research offer and establish new business contacts.
