W dniach 27-28 czerwca 2019 r. pracownicy Instytutu Mechaniki Górotworu PAN byli uczestnikami 15. edycji konferencji The Mining Forum & Exhibition, która odbyła się w Hotelu Estrel w Berlinie. IMG PAN miał zaszczyt być jednym z partnerów konferencji – w ramach sesji Ground Control odbyła się 2. Konferencja Naukowa im. Stanisława Knothego, którą Instytut zorganizował we współpracy z DMT GmbH & Co. KG. Sesję otworzył prof. dr hab. inż. Anton Sroka, który powitał zgromadzonych gości i słowem wstępu przedstawił prof. Stanisława Knothego, jego sylwetkę i osiągnięcia naukowe. Wygłoszono następujące referaty:

- Heinz-Jurgen Kateloe, RWTH Aachen University Applying Knothe’s Theory to the Evaluation of Dynamic Mining Subsidence in Range of an Underground Pipeline
- Jerzy Krawczyk, IMG PAN Examples of modeling of methane propagation during an operation of a longwall shearer
- Andreas Muterthies, EFTAS Fernerkundung Technologietransfer GmbH Satellite-borne monitoring measures in the mine life cycle

Jednym z moderatorów sesji był dr hab. inż. Krzysztof Tajduś, prof. IMG PAN.
W ciągu dwóch dni wygłoszono około 90 referatów dla prawie 400 uczestników. W gronie prelegentów znaleźli się:
Konferencja była również okazją do zaprezentowania oferty naukowo-badawczej Instytutu oraz nawiązania nowych kontaktów biznesowych.
